Who’s got the red plastic cups?

You’ve gotta have these things. The all important red plastic cup is a must buy for any deck or patio party especially if you’re getting a keg. Get ‘em now, get ‘em early, get a bunch. Everyone has thrown a keg party in their back yard where the cups run out…and then what happens? Yup, your glasses and coffee mugs get pulled out of the kitchen and get spread out over you deck and back yard.

*Critical* - Make sure you get the 16oz size. 16oz is a pint. A pint is the perfect size for a beer. Anything smaller is foolish and an insult to your guests, your party and your country. Nobody likes standing around with an 8oz cup of beer in their hand. What is this, High School? Look for “16oz” on the bag.

You can find these in most stores or you can get then ahead of time online for cheap. For example Amazon’s got them on at 100 for about 6 bucks. I always figure about a cup and a half for each person coming. So figure on 50 people and buy at least 75 cups. They get smashed, lost, thrown out or whatever.

The red cup is good for draft beer out of a keg as well as for the cocktails. Yes it’s nice to have fancy Margarita glasses and high ball glasses out there for your friends but you know what’s going to happen. They’ll get busted. A nice thing to do if have a couple of black Sharpie pens out and about for people to mark their cups with, especially if you’re having a big group. Not everyone will use them but what the heck. They’re less than a buck a piece.
